In every community there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart there is the power to do it.

Medical anthropology is a highly developed concept of anthropology. It focuses on factors related to health and well-being of individuals, community and the environment from cultural, social, biological, and linguistic areas. The purpose of medical anthropology is to build applications to change the hospital and primary healthcare services in communities with respect to the cultural and environmental factors (focusanthro 2011). This website was designed to provide the learner with the knowledge of medical anthropology including applied and medical anthropologies and cultural competency. We also look at how these three factors relate to Ann Fadiman's book, The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down: A Hmong Child, Her American Doctors, and the Collision of Two Cultures.
These two YouTube videos give a little background on medical anthropology and its significance.
